Friend Update...

Sorry if y'all are sick of hearing about her, but she's important to me and she's going through a lot. There's good news though! Her "polyp" turned out to be a cyst which is good news. They didn't have to do a biopsy which is also good news. She will have to have the cyst surgically removed under anesthesia which won't be much fun, but at least it's not something more severe and she will be able to wait until spring break so she doesn't have to take time out from teaching. Thanks so much everyone for your prayers!!

Also, Greg is STILL running a fever and the doctor said he would stop being contagious when the fever breaks. Pray the fever breaks tonight, I feel pretty sorry for him.

Also I put links to my registries on here...there's a ridiculous amount of stuff on them because Greg and I were a little trigger happy with the gun! It's way more stressful doing baby registry stuff than wedding registry stuff. I mean, for the wedding registry you could just register for all kinds of stuff and invariably you'd find some use for it. Now I feel like I have to be more discriminate so I don't get the "wrong" thing.

Oh well, hey, at least we're all getting a nice check in the mail in June so anything I don't get or registered for "incorrectly" I can buy later. :-) Check it out! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,325192,00.html

Friend's next doctor's appointment...

Please continue praying for my friend, Misty. I think she's telling people so it's okay if I put her name on here. She's having another doctor's appointment this afternoon with an ENT specialist and then will still have to go back again for more tests that they can't run today. Just pray everything looks good and that the "final" results will come quickly so there won't be anymore waiting.

Also, Greg has the flu...yuck! I can't get it so I'm lysoling everything in the house 5 times a day! Pray he gets UN-contagious fast and that he starts feeling better soon.

Sex ed video! Get your attention? :-)

First things first...my friend got some results back and is having to go back for more tests next week. Keep her in your prayers still please! Also, Greg had his first week of school. So far so good. He likes it and is feeling pretty good about things so far! WOO HOO!!

So, I had a doctor's appointment last Friday. Nothing too eventful. Everything's pretty normal...said for the second month in a row I'm measuring a week ahead. Wouldn't surprise me seeing as I wasn't 100% sure on all the dates and such. Speaking of which...I figured I'd actually explain why I tell everyone we were really surprised when we got pregnant.

I say that and most people look at me and I know what they're thinking, "what, you don't know how it happens??" Yes, I do know how it happens...even though I did miss the sex ed video. Funny story about that...I'll tell it later. :-) So anyway, my doctor in Abilene had mentioned stuff about PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) which I never took very seriously mostly because I didn't want to do the tons of blood work that finding out involved. Well my doctor in San Antonio told me that I had to have it done because I wasn't sure if I was ovulating (apparently if you do, it's something you can tell...). Well, got it all done, and as far as they could tell I have PCOS. There's no one test that they can perform that gives that nice little plus sign. It's a range of symptoms and they check for multiple different things. Well, then came testing for ovulation every day over a period of three months. Still nothing so they determined that when I wanted to get pregnant hormone therapy/fertility drugs would be the way to go. At the time we had no plans on getting pregnant right away and I definitely didn't want to do the whole medicine route right away. So, all that said, we didn't think it would really happen. I haven't been on birth control for 3 years mostly cause I didn't think it would happen! Soooooo, now when I say that we were surprised I don't want to see that look of pity from all you who are wondering how I've been married for 4.5 years and never learned the birds and the bees!

So, funny story about the sex ed video. So remember in 5th grade when you have to watch that video? Yeah, I don't. I missed it because I was sick. My mom was so freaked out about having to tell me about sex she asked if I wanted to go to school just to watch the video and come back home. Uh, right, I totally want to be the kid that just shows up to school to watch a video about sex. Somehow I'm not thinking the nice kids in my 5th class would have let that go...that being said, I missed out on what I can only guess was a rite of passage in life!

One last thing...everyone should go see Juno! It was awesome!

Update on Friend...And new prayer request

The doctor/assistant wouldn't tell her the results over the phone on Friday so she has to go in tomorrow afternoon to find out. Again, please keep her in your prayers, I'm sure it's been a nerve wracking weekend!

Also, Greg starts school tomorrow. Last night we went to Wal-Mart and got all his school supplies and even bought a new back pack. It was actually kind of cute, but as we started doing all that things became more real and he started to get nervous. He's pretty nervous right now and decided he needed to go to the grocery store to get stuff to eat between work and school...yeah, that's Greg for you! Anyway, keep him in your prayers too!

Thanks everyone!

My ADD son...

Just kidding, but seriously this kid won't be still! It wouldn't be as bad I don't think if he weren't so low, but every time he kicks I feel like I better run to the bathroom! It is fun to feel him kick a lot, but I'm beginning to dread when he gets stronger!

On a completely different note...Greg enrolled in school today. That's a long awaited answered prayer. I've been praying for him to find direction and motivation and this weekend on our very long drive home from Dallas he decided it was time to go back to school. Please pray for him...school has never been easy. I guess the blog title could have been "My ADD son...and Husband." Those of us without learning disabilities will never know how much they struggle. I watched my sister work extra hard her whole life and I see how incredibly intelligent my husband is and it pains me to know how much he struggles. I feel like he should be allowed to wear his SAT results or IQ test scores around just to prove it to people! We've been talking a lot about what steps we're going to take should our son really turn out to be ADD or dyslexic. There has been so much more research done now in both of those fields that I hope people will begin to take it seriously.

I have a whole soap box that revolves around over diagnosing learning disabilities and the use of stimulant drugs, but I'll save that for another time. In the meantime, keep Greg in your prayers. Pray that he will be able to display his intelligence in the only way that school cares about...grades! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, we certainly did!
