It's a long one...

So this weekend was our ladies retreat and as always it was a very interesting, fun, tiring weekend! It's always a time for me to reflect on myself and where I see my life. It's things like this that 1) remind me of things I need to work on and 2) make me restless. First off, I hate that I'm negative. Ironic that I "hate" it right? I know, bad joke. Someone will say something and instead of the 50 nice things I think about that subject, I spit out the one bad one. It frustrates me because that's rarely indicative of my true feelings on the subject. So that's my lesson from this weekend that I'm going to work harder on saying positive things I think about rather than the one negative (don't get me wrong, my blog will still be negative and sarcastic...I mean I need one outlet right?).

The second one is that I feel restless. I think my parents forever changed me by living overseas. We've always been a pretty international family with my dad being from South Africa and spending time there and having my grandmother spend time with us. My first overseas trip was at the ripe old age of 6 months. Then we lived in Germany for 6 years as well. I love Texas...I always have...I just tend to love it more when I live somewhere else. Does that make sense? Maybe not to those of you who haven't lived far away from what you consider home. Texas will always be home, but I'm restless. I'm ready to explore. I want to live somewhere new, do something exciting, make a change. Now, it's not likely to happen. At least not soon, but I can dream. If I could get a job in Australia I'd pick up and leave tomorrow! Man, I want to move there. Being on the retreat caused some introspection on my part and really reminded me how homesick I am for change. What a strange concept, to be nostalgic for change. I never would have thought of myself that way, but I've been here two and a half years and that's a long time to me. I know, I know, you're all thinking...hello, she's about to have HUGE change in about 3 more months.

I'm okay with that change. Don't get me wrong, I'm scared...really scared. But I'm excited! It's change! And it's going to be hard, but I'm okay with that too. Little Bruce really liked the singing on the retreat and would always get really excited when it started. As he was moving around everywhere it all started becoming more real...there's actually a PERSON inside me! How incredible is God?? I mean, we GROW people! He's a little human being that's going to grow up and forever make a change in this world!

Speaking of how amazing God is...here's what the power of your prayers for my friend have done. Misty is now a medical miracle! I won't go into all the details because I've heard it a few times now and every time I do it kind of grosses me out. :-) Basically...she coughed up her cyst. Now, I didn't know this, but apparently that doesn't happen. They asked the doctor if that was normal and he was pretty much astounded...he'd never heard of it happening before! So she no longer needs surgery and the cyst is gone! Hallelujah!!

By popular demand (or for the one person who asked for them...) here are pictures of me from this morning. These are at 26weeks. ..so I lied when I first posted this. I'm actually almost 26 weeks. I keep getting the dates all mixed up in my head!

Friend Update...

Sorry if y'all are sick of hearing about her, but she's important to me and she's going through a lot. There's good news though! Her "polyp" turned out to be a cyst which is good news. They didn't have to do a biopsy which is also good news. She will have to have the cyst surgically removed under anesthesia which won't be much fun, but at least it's not something more severe and she will be able to wait until spring break so she doesn't have to take time out from teaching. Thanks so much everyone for your prayers!!

Also, Greg is STILL running a fever and the doctor said he would stop being contagious when the fever breaks. Pray the fever breaks tonight, I feel pretty sorry for him.

Also I put links to my registries on here...there's a ridiculous amount of stuff on them because Greg and I were a little trigger happy with the gun! It's way more stressful doing baby registry stuff than wedding registry stuff. I mean, for the wedding registry you could just register for all kinds of stuff and invariably you'd find some use for it. Now I feel like I have to be more discriminate so I don't get the "wrong" thing.

Oh well, hey, at least we're all getting a nice check in the mail in June so anything I don't get or registered for "incorrectly" I can buy later. :-) Check it out! http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,325192,00.html

Friend's next doctor's appointment...

Please continue praying for my friend, Misty. I think she's telling people so it's okay if I put her name on here. She's having another doctor's appointment this afternoon with an ENT specialist and then will still have to go back again for more tests that they can't run today. Just pray everything looks good and that the "final" results will come quickly so there won't be anymore waiting.

Also, Greg has the flu...yuck! I can't get it so I'm lysoling everything in the house 5 times a day! Pray he gets UN-contagious fast and that he starts feeling better soon.

Sex ed video! Get your attention? :-)

First things first...my friend got some results back and is having to go back for more tests next week. Keep her in your prayers still please! Also, Greg had his first week of school. So far so good. He likes it and is feeling pretty good about things so far! WOO HOO!!

So, I had a doctor's appointment last Friday. Nothing too eventful. Everything's pretty normal...said for the second month in a row I'm measuring a week ahead. Wouldn't surprise me seeing as I wasn't 100% sure on all the dates and such. Speaking of which...I figured I'd actually explain why I tell everyone we were really surprised when we got pregnant.

I say that and most people look at me and I know what they're thinking, "what, you don't know how it happens??" Yes, I do know how it happens...even though I did miss the sex ed video. Funny story about that...I'll tell it later. :-) So anyway, my doctor in Abilene had mentioned stuff about PCOS (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) which I never took very seriously mostly because I didn't want to do the tons of blood work that finding out involved. Well my doctor in San Antonio told me that I had to have it done because I wasn't sure if I was ovulating (apparently if you do, it's something you can tell...). Well, got it all done, and as far as they could tell I have PCOS. There's no one test that they can perform that gives that nice little plus sign. It's a range of symptoms and they check for multiple different things. Well, then came testing for ovulation every day over a period of three months. Still nothing so they determined that when I wanted to get pregnant hormone therapy/fertility drugs would be the way to go. At the time we had no plans on getting pregnant right away and I definitely didn't want to do the whole medicine route right away. So, all that said, we didn't think it would really happen. I haven't been on birth control for 3 years mostly cause I didn't think it would happen! Soooooo, now when I say that we were surprised I don't want to see that look of pity from all you who are wondering how I've been married for 4.5 years and never learned the birds and the bees!

So, funny story about the sex ed video. So remember in 5th grade when you have to watch that video? Yeah, I don't. I missed it because I was sick. My mom was so freaked out about having to tell me about sex she asked if I wanted to go to school just to watch the video and come back home. Uh, right, I totally want to be the kid that just shows up to school to watch a video about sex. Somehow I'm not thinking the nice kids in my 5th class would have let that go...that being said, I missed out on what I can only guess was a rite of passage in life!

One last thing...everyone should go see Juno! It was awesome!

Update on Friend...And new prayer request

The doctor/assistant wouldn't tell her the results over the phone on Friday so she has to go in tomorrow afternoon to find out. Again, please keep her in your prayers, I'm sure it's been a nerve wracking weekend!

Also, Greg starts school tomorrow. Last night we went to Wal-Mart and got all his school supplies and even bought a new back pack. It was actually kind of cute, but as we started doing all that things became more real and he started to get nervous. He's pretty nervous right now and decided he needed to go to the grocery store to get stuff to eat between work and school...yeah, that's Greg for you! Anyway, keep him in your prayers too!

Thanks everyone!

Prayer Request for a friend...

I have a good friend finding out some test results this morning...those that happen to read this before lunch please pray for good results for her!
